23.09.2020: As part of National Graduate Week, UK Music’s Director of Education & Skills Dr. Oliver Morris outlines some of the events planned to encourage more people to consider a career in the UK’s world-leading music industry.
UK Music is looking forward to another busy year ahead working to share information on careers in the music industry.
Although the events have moved online, there are still lots of exciting possibilities and ways to get involved – over coming months no matter where you live.
On Thursday September 24 UK Music is holding an event for students of our brilliant Music Academic Partnership member the University of Hertfordshire.
We’ve been proud to hold events there every year and meet the fantastic students. This year is no different except it will be all done online of course.
The day starts with an introduction from UK Music’s Director of Education & Skills Dr Oliver Morris on UK Music’s role in the industry.
Afterwards, there will be a presentation from Ninja of Mercury Prize-nominated The Go! Team on the many careers that support her in what she does as a singer. Following this AIM Award winner and FAC Advocate rapper Shao Dow will discuss his career with his manager Ryan Glover.
After a short break we return with a presentation from Nina Radojewski, from AIM, who represent the independent music sector.
We conclude the day with all the contributors above joining a career panel along with Jack Williamson from Music & You who has been in the industry for over 20 years and Silv Gargiulo from BIY People & Talent who help music companies recruit employees – all are fountains of knowledge.
The above session is exclusive to students in the Music Academic Partnership network – if you would like to know more about MAP click here.
If you would like to discuss or would be interested in joining please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are also pleased to share an online session open to all. On Friday September 25 at 1pm UK Music join CareerMap for a special panel during National Graduate Week.
Dr Oliver Morris again leads the panel that will give a number of professionals the chance to discuss careers in the industry, strategies to adopt during Covid-19 and general advice on moving into the industry successfully. Joining the panel will be Nina Radojewski from AIM, rapper Shao Dow, Tanyel Gumushan who works for PPL PRS and Silv Gargiulo of BIY People & Talent.
Director of CareerMap Sharon Walpole will be introducing the session and directing questions from the audience to the panel – so please do ask us anything you want to know.
