07/08/17: On August 4th UK Music's Oliver Morris chaired a panel on Music & Mental Health during Hull’s first ever music industry conference, 53 Degrees North. Panel members were: Nadine Shah – artist and mental health campaigner, Mark Richardson – Music Support, Emma Wilkinson – counsellor in the The Warren and Christina Colmer-McHugh founder and CEO of Moodbeam.

The panel discussed a wide range of topics and shared a range of personal experiences. It was noted that there is a real groundswell of understanding around mental health issues currently in the industry and that a number of schemes are developing to address it. The panel underlined the importance of continuing to nurture an open and understanding culture within which this issue can be discussed. 

Sponsored by the City of Culture the event was organised by UK Music’s Rehearsal Space The Warren and saw many UK Music members and others contributing to the programme over a very interesting 2 days. The event is being hailed as a great triumph in terms of Hull's programming around their City of Culture year.
