11.06.2020: UK Music Chair Tom Watson and Acting CEO Tom Kiehl spoke of their support ahead of the reopening of non-essential shops in England on Monday (June 15).

Reacting to the news that HMV would be opening 90 stores UK Music Acting CEO Tom Kiehl said:

“This is great news for everyone that has been longing for physical media retail to get up and running again. HMV is such an important part of UK music culture and it’s return across England next week will be warmly welcomed by music fans.”

UK Music Chair Tom Watson also welcomed the news that record stores and music instrument shops were reopening. He said:

“It’s fantastic to see record stores and music shops starting to reopen. UK Music is continuing to work with the Government to help the rest of our industry, particularly the live sector, emerge from the lockdown.”
