29.01.2026: Ahead of elections for the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Senedd in May, UK Music is introducing a Manifesto for Music designed to turbocharge each nation’s music sector and drive economic growth.

The manifestos will help develop music growth plans for Scotland and Wales, tear down barriers to music exports, guarantee a high quality music education for all, ensure AI policy supports homegrown creativity, and use music to drive tourism.

UK Music is also renewing its call for councils across the UK to sign up to its Local Music Action Charter. The Charter was launched in 2025 as part of UK Music’s Hometown Glory report into music tourism and the vast benefits a strong music scene can have on communities across the UK.

The charter, which you can find out more about and sign up to here, offers practical advice on how authorities can develop their local music scene to boost their economy, drive employment and support creatives.
