08.09.2025: UK Music outlined its ‘Manifesto For Music – Scotland’ plans at the 2025 Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) Summit, alongside Creative Scotland, Glasgow Life, and Glasgow UNESCO City of Music. 

This year’s Summit – the first in-person edition of the event – marked a key milestone for the SMIA and for the wider industry, bringing together 250 voices from across Scotland’s music landscape to take stock, share insight and help shape the sector’s future.  

UK Music Director of Campaigns and Engagement Olga FitzRoy represented UK Music and delivered a keynote speech discussing UK Music’s plans for its ‘Manifesto for Music – Scotland’, and partnership with SMIA on its Road Map for the sector.  

Olga also highlighted the challenges facing the music industry in Scotland, while recognising positives such as the introduction of free instrumental tuition, and the long-term multi-year funding settlement for culture, announced at the end of 2023.  

While in attendance, she met with various industry leaders and officials from Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government, as well as Cabinet Secretary for Culture in the Scottish Government, Angus Robertson MSP.  

Representatives from UK Music Members, BPI, MU, MMF, Ivors Academy and PRS for Music were also in attendance.
