19/01/18: UK Music hosted Damian Collins MP, Chair of the House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee at a round-table discussion with UK Music members.
The event at UK Music HQ in Whitehall was the third in our series of lunches with Select Committees chairs following previous sessions with Hilary Benn MP (Chair, House of Commons Exiting the EU Select Committee) and Rachel Reeves MP (Chair, House of Commons Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee).
Damian briefed UK Music members on his Committee’s agenda, including the imminent publication of their inquiry into Brexit and the creative industries, as well as the forthcoming inquiry covering a number of elements of live music.
Industry representatives attending the lunch welcomed the new inquiry and raised a number of other key issues with Damian including Brexit and free movement of people and goods, IP and copyright, Arts Council funding and the impact of social mobility on music.
