06/02/18: UK Music today joined the celebrations to mark 100 years since women were allowed to vote for the first time thanks to the Representation of the People Act which was passed 100 years ago today

Those sacrifices made a century ago helped transform society and helped women develop successful careers in a range of fields, including in the music industry.

We are proud at UK Music to champion the causes of equality and diversity, though we recognise there is still more to do in our industry, as in all other walks of life. For example, more needs to be done on tackling the gender pay gap and offering people shared parental leave.

Today we pay tribute to the courage of those who fought so hard to extend the vote to women, but the campaign for equality and equal rights goes on.
