23/10/2019: UK Music chairman Andy Heath has been presented with a CBE for services to the music industry by Prince William.
The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (October 22).
After being presented with the award by the Duke of Cambridge, Andy said: “It was a really proud moment and an enjoyable ceremony. The honour is not just for me, it’s for the whole music industry.”
Andy Heath has more than 40 years experience in the music industry and is strong supporter of taking a long-term approach to talent development.
He has been on the board of Beggars Group since 1989, one of Europe’s leading independent music companies and is currently Chairman of Beggars Music, the group’s publishing division.
Andy also served on the Council of the Music Publishers Association since 1989 (as President from 1993 – 1997) and sat on the boards of the PRS and Mechanical Copyright Protection Society from 1992 to 2008.
In January 2008 he was appointed Chairman of British Music Rights, which he co-founded in 1997. In 2008, he also became Chairman of UK Music representing for the first time the whole of Britain’s commercial music industry. In 2009, Andy was awarded an MBE for services to music publishing.
