UK Music chair Andy Heath delivered the keynote lecture to open the inaugural David Ferguson Lecture, organised by the BASCA Trust.
Andy shared a number of illuminating anecdotes, as well as heartfelt praise for David. Andy went on to discuss the current state of play in the industry and what this means for songwriters at the event last Wednesday.
The lecture also saw an expert panel discussion moderated by Helienne Lindvall, BASCA and featuring Andy, Imogen Heap Artist & Producer, Goldie Artist & Writer and Roxanna Panufnik, Composer.
Crispin Hunt, BASCA Chairman concluded the evening with rousing words for the audience on the importance of composition to the music industry and collaboration.
The inaugural lecture remembered and honoured composer and songwriter David Ferguson’s professional legacy.
It is thanks to David’s generous bequest that the BASCA Trust is able to continue his work, raising public awareness of composition and songwriting with a focus on how music writers make a living from their work.
