19/06/2017: Chief Executive Michael Dugher took to the stage at Live in Barnsley on Saturday to show UK Music’s support for the festival.

The festival has been running since 2013 and draws thousands of music fans to Barnsley every summer in a major boost to the town’s economy.

Michael, who is a patron of the festival, joined the acts performing at Jock’s Tavern, while UK Music sponsored the stage at Esmeralda’s.

Michael said: “Live in Barnsley just gets bigger and better every year.

It’s a fantastic free festival and a great showcase for some of the diverse musical talents in the area.

“The event is the brainchild of music fans Dave Pearsall and Steve Clifford who work tirelessly on making Live in Barnsley a huge success.   I’m sure it will continue to go from strength to strength.”

On his trip, Michael also enjoyed the chance to open secondhand record shop VURecords in Barnsley with Labour peer Lord Watts.
