03/03/2020: UK Music Acting CEO Tom Kiehl has responded to the UK Government's announcement that they will be seeking a free trade agreement with the US.
Discussing how a deal with the US could potentially benefit the UK music industry Acting CEO Tom Kiehl said:
“The process for UK artists and musicians entering the USA for gigs, festivals and tours is currently long, complex and prohibitively expensive.
“As the UK and US approach a new trade agreement there’s a huge opportunity to address this so its easier for up-and-coming performers to fly over the pond, attract audiences and generate export revenue.
“It’s therefore welcome that the UK Government is placing business mobility and market access at the heart of its negotiating position, alongside seeking to secure copyright provisions that support the UK creative industries through an effective and balanced global framework.”
