04.11.2021: Musicians and crew are being encouraged to give their views on the issues they face touring the EU.

They are being asked to respond to a survey so their views can be fed into a new inquiry that has been launched by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Music.

The cross-party group of MPs and Peers launched the inquiry this month following mounting concerns in Westminster and across the music industry about some of the extra costs and red tape that many musicians and crew now face.

The survey, which is open to everyone – organisations and individuals – will contribute to the inquiry which aims to further discussions with Government about the current challenges and explore possible solutions.

The European Union is a vital market for the music industry, especially for new artists and bands looking to grow their audience, as well as freelance crew and musicians.

However, the music industry now faces significant barriers such as the EU-wide cabotage issues facing industry, expensive red tape such as carnets, and permits and visas with the eight member states with which the UK does not have agreements on visa-free touring.
