01.11.2022: Senior parliamentarians from an influential cross-party group visited the iconic AIR Studios in Hampstead.
Senior parliamentarians from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Music, including Chair of the APPG on Music Kevin Brennan MP, Shadow Ministers Jeff Smith MP, Bambos Charalambous MP and Tulip Siddiq MP, as well as Ian Paisley MP and Lord Taylor of Warwick, visited AIR Studios in London, on Tuesday October 30.
The visit was to help build links between politicians and the music sector. The aim of the visit was to better understand the challenges and opportunities that 2023 will present for the recorded music sector.
The politicians toured the studio, watched a recording session and spoke to staff about the challenges facing the recorded music sector, as well as the opportunities presented by the huge growth of the global recorded music sector.
The APPG on Music is one of the largest APPGs in Parliament with over 120 members here. It provides a forum for engagement between the music sector and the parliamentarians, organising a range of visits and talks over the year.
Founded by the Beatles’ legendary producer Sir George Martin, AIR Studios is one of the few studios capable of housing a full orchestral recording session and has helped to create the Oscar-winning scores of the Grand Budapest Hotel and Atonement, as well as the iconic score for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. UK Music and the APPG on Music will continue to work to bring the sector and parliamentarians together to build understanding of the importance of the UK music sector to the UK’s economy, culture and wellbeing.
