Established in London nearly 40 years ago, ICMP has been developing and delivering contemporary music education longer than any other contemporary music school. With two impressive campuses in London catering to approximately 1,300 students each year, and two brand-new campuses in Liverpool and Leeds in 2025.

ICMP offers a specialist range of industry-aligned undergraduate and postgraduate programmes focused on preparing musicians, producers, creative artists and entrepreneurs for a successful and rewarding career in the music and wider creative industries. We have a rich and diverse community of students, alumni and staff from across the globe (70 different countries), our full-time students ages range from 18-71, we have 10k alumni and 291 staff. ICMP graduates can be found working throughout the music industry, making a name for themselves as artists on some of the world’s biggest stages, working in the many global business companies, or simply carving out a rewarding career from making, playing, performing and teaching music. Alumni include Fraser T Smith (Stormzy, Adele, Dave), Ed O’Brien (Radiohead), Elena Tonra (Daughter), Luke Patterson (Clean Bandit), Louise Bartle (Bloc Party), Izzy Chase (Dua Lipa) and Matt Maltese.

ICMP’s School of Music Business is very well respected and runs the only undergraduate Music Business degree in the UK to be accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. Furthermore, our Music Marketing courses are accredited by both the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI). Upon completion, students can graduate with three industry-recognised awards.

In September 2022 the QAA on behalf of the OfS awarded ICMP Full Degree Awarding Powers (DAP) to recognise the achievements of our students. In 2024 we were awarded a Silver Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework and an overall score of 82% in the National Student Satisfaction Survey.

Through its EDI Committee, the institution reviews, promotes, and reports on our plans and progress in the creation of an equal, equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment across all our services and stakeholders. We also instigate, advise on, develop, and monitor EDI related policies and procedures within ICMP ensuring strategic alignment. ICMP has EDI staff and student champions working with and across differing characteristics (race, LGBTQIA+, disability champions etc.) who host events and meetings to foster safe spaces for our community. We are proud to work in partnership with organisations such as Black Lives in Music and Trans in the City.
