What does a Metadata Coordinator do?
Metadata is, essentially, data about other data. An example of this is information about a song, such as it’s length, creator, genre, title, and producer. A metadata coordinator ensures that metadata is correct and communicated to distributors. It’s really important that this data is communicated to organisations like PPL and PRS for Music, as having this information easily identifies a specific song or album, and if it gets played live or on the radio then those artists can get paid. It helps to process royalties and register new works, especially on sites such as Spotify.
