On Friday 1st July, UK Music hosted a ‘Skills and Schools’ event at Frome Community College with a special appearance from David Warburton, MP for Somerton and Frome who addressed an assembly of students.
Through a series of talks and workshops from various music industry professionals, the event aimed to highlight the numerous career paths and apprenticeship opportunities available within the sector, as well as giving the students an invaluable insight into the worlds of songwriting and music production.
UK Music CEO, Jo Dipple discussed further education and apprenticeship openings available to young people and was joined by Ninja lead singer of The Go! Team, electronic music producer Matt Preston aka Phaeleh and music lawyer/CEO Richard Hoare from respected law firm Hoare Associates. Each discussed their careers and paths into the industry, giving students first-hand accounts of how to succeed in the business.
