Whether you are performing, producing, promoting or writing about entertainment, Solent’s industry-focused courses help its students develop their talent, passion and skills. Solent also has strong links to music venues and festivals (including Bestival, Blissfields, Glastonbury and Isle of Wight).
Learning is supported by a varied guest speaker programme. Solent’s strong links with the music, media and entertainment industries has meant that past students have benefitted from a range of guest speakers, including Radio 1 and Bestival’s Rob Da Bank; Incentive Records’ Nick Halkes; Andy Copping, Vice President of Live Nation UK; James McMahon, editor of Kerrang!; Kate Head PR for Taylor Swift; Tinchy Stryder; Colin Lester, manager of Craig David and Arctic Monkeys; and Glastonbury Festival’s Mark Cann.
Students are also encouraged to work with the University’s in-house organisation Solent Music, which manages work experience and promotes our music students’ practical work. In addition, students can work with Solent Productions and Solent Creatives, providing further opportunities to work with businesses on real-life projects and live briefs aimed at gaining valuable work experience and building a professional network.
