On Tuesday 8th November UK Music launched its ‘Wish You Were Here Northern Ireland’ report at a drinks reception during Sound of Belfast at Oh Yeah Centre. The report reveals the vast contribution of live music and music tourism to the Northern Irish economy during 2015.
Some of the findings from Wish you Were Here Northern Ireland 2016 were:
• A total audience of 703,000 attended live music events in Northern Ireland in 2015
• Music tourism generated £84 million in direct and indirect spend
• A total local audience of 455,000 Northern Irish residents attended music events in 2015
The reception featured a speech from Jo Dipple CEO at UK Music, who chaired a panel with Charlotte Dryden CEO at Oh Yeah Centre, Brendan McGoran of Belfast City Council and Mark Gordon of Generator NI, who discussed the findings of the WYWH report, music tourism and music culture in Northern Ireland.
