We’re hiring! UK Music is looking for a new Digital Communications Officer

Job title: Digital Communications Officer

Location: Central London

Salary: £30,000 

UK Music is a campaigning and lobbying body that represents the collective interests of the UK music industry. We promote the cultural and economic worth of music, the development of public policy to support that worth, publish industry research and support education, skills and training.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, responsibilities as below:

  • Website & social media management
  • Drafting articles, press releases and reports
  • Monitoring and preparing media reports for the Director of Communications
  • Supporting the Director of Communications to ensure the best possible media coverage of our work
  • Making and updating contacts with journalists and press officers in the trade media, Government departments, broadcast and print media (national and regional) and engaging with bodies that have crossover with our work
  • Maintaining and updating media distribution lists
  • Assisting with the UK Music Communications and Events Committee
  • Overseeing UK Music reports – liaising with stakeholders and proofreading documents
  • Work with other team members to support key UK Music events
  • Day-to-day responsibility for the press operation including writing and distributing releases

Skills required:

  • Excellent understanding of social media and digital communications
  • An eagle eye for detail
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle many different projects at the same time
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced office
  • Collegiate approach with an ability to help out other staff when required
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Keen to develop new skills, make new contacts and develop the communications brief
