12.10.2023: UK Music Director of Education and Skills and Welsh-language speaker, Dr Oliver Morris attended the Plaid Cymru Conference to discuss our Manifesto for Music.

The conference took place on Friday October 6 in Aberystwyth and was held at Award winning-Aberystwyth Arts Centre – Wales’ largest arts centre, which is recognised as a ‘national flagship for the arts’.

Oliver attended a busy day of speeches and panels, which covered a range of topics, that included discussions, including one on healthy communities, the related both to UK Music’s Power of Music report, and also our Here, There and Everywhere report, as well as the Manifesto for Music.

The leader Rhun ap iorwerth’s inaugural speech at party conference was very well received by the audience. UK Music was very happy to hear his pledge to support language and culture – music and the arts have always been a foundation stone of the Welsh nation and key to a successful and inclusive nation.

Oliver also attended the conference dinner that night and was able to discuss music education with Cllr. Catrin Davies, who is Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, and Customer Service in Ceredigion County Council.
