12.12.2025: Following the huge success of Discover! Creative Careers Month in November UK Music launches all-new careers packs for primary-aged children and secondary-aged young people.
The packs will provide children and young people with lots of information on what kinds of careers there are in music, as well as offer interactive elements such as games and online resources.
The packs also signpost parents and guardians, teachers, and careers advisors towards other resources that can help guide discussions around the possible careers available in music.
The packs are a development of UK Music’s hugely popular original Career Packs, catering to different age groups in a more tailored way.
In 2026 we will also be launching a Young Professional Career Pack with more in-depth information on our members and other key considerations for careers in the music industry for those in the early stages of their career or studying at higher education level.
UK Music is happy to add the careers packs to the range of assets we have developed – such as job role descriptions, videos, and a lesson plan – across UK Music, Discover! Creative Careers, and other partners’ websites.
UK Music Director of Education & Skills Dr Oliver Morris said: “We are excited to share the new editions of the Career Packs and love knowing that they will become useful guides for children and young people as they consider their futures.
“It was always fabulous hearing from a wide variety of people how much use the previous version got. So we decided it was time to split out the single version to help reach the younger Primary-aged audience, as well as expand and update the resources in the Secondary-aged pack.
“It seemed appropriate to launch our new careers packs in the wake of a hugely successful Discover! Creative Careers Month and I would encourage everyone to have a look over the Christmas break and explore all the resources available.
“Music is a fantastic industry to work in and there are many ways to get involved, from freelance work to employment and of course through a mixture of the two via a portfolio career.
“We hope these career packs inspire the next generation and also support parents and guardians, teachers, and careers advice professionals in the discussions.”
