21.06.2023: This Make Music Day 2023, UK Music and CreateBritain have launched a special digital showcase for college and university students.

Developed by CreateBritain, an innovative platform for creatives to showcase their multi-disciplinary work, the digital showcase highlights work from students at academic institutions that are part of UK Music’s Music Academic Partnership (MAP). MAP is a ground-breaking project that links these academic institutions directly with the music industry.

The academic institutions involved in the showcase include Access Creative College, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds Conservatoire, University of Central Lancashire, University of Gloucestershire, University of Hertfordshire and the University of Liverpool.

The playlists feature a range of musical styles, from pop to hip hop, indie rock to punk.

The digital showcase is presented as a record player on laptops and desktops, with each academic institutions playlist shown to be taken out of the record sleeve and placed on the turntable before being played. On mobile it is presented as cassette-player.

UK Music’s Director of Education and Skills Dr Oliver Morris said:

“The tracks we are sharing today celebrate their commitment and talent and showcase a fantastic cross-section of the work being created during study at college and university.

“Many of the pieces will have been submitted for end-of-year assessments and/or performed live in front of fellow students and tutors.

All will have been crafted over many hours as the artists hone their skills and bring an idea, a sound, a lyric, a melody to life as a coherent and completed piece of music.”
