20.11.2025: The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Music has re-elected Pete Wishart MP and Alex Sobel MP as its co-Chairs at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Westminster.  

The APPG on Music brings together MPs, Peers, and representatives from across the music industry to discuss the key issues facing the sector. With more than 100 members, it is one of the largest groups in Westminster. 

The group held its AGM on Tuesday November 18, where MPs and Peers re-elected Pete Wishart MP and Alex Sobel MP as the group’s Chairs. Zoë Franklin MP and Lord Kempsell were also elected as Vice-Chairs. 

During the meeting, members received an update on UK Music’s recent activities from Chief Executive Tom Kiehl. This included a presentation of findings from the newly published annual economic report This Is Music, which highlighted that the UK music sector is worth £8 billion to the UK economy, delivers £4.8 billion in exports, and employs 220,000 people. 

The meeting also covered the Government’s recently announced ban on the resale of tickets for profit, concerns over recording studios being excluded from the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure (RHL) tax relief scheme, and ongoing engagement with officials regarding negotiations with the EU to resolve touring issues. 

Other Parliamentarians in attendance included Kerry McCarthy MP, Jessica Morden MP, Jeff Smith MP, Patrick Hurley MP, UK Music Chair Lord Watson of Wyre Forest, Lord Clement-Jones, the Earl of Clancarty and Lord Brennan of Canton.
