Music Inc, an app based game developed by Aardman Animations for UK Music and the Intellectual Property Office, has been nominated for a 2014 TIGA Award in the Game with Purpose Category. TIGA's Games Industry Awards shortlist the best games in the industry over the last 12 months, highlighting best practice and reward those in the industry contributing to its long-term innovation. The winners will be announced on 6th November at a ceremony in London.

Today (Friday 17th October) UK Music’s Tom Kiehl addressed the AIF Festival Congress in Cardiff. The Director of Government and Public Affairs spoke to an audience of independent promoters, agents and managers at the first summit organised by the Association of Independent Festivals in order to highlight the economic contribution and cultural importance of the live sector.

Emeli Sande (2 October) opened a new UK Music project in Tottenham which will give young people a safe place to make music, improve skills and boost confidence. Opening the new rehearsal space, Emeli said she was “thrilled” to be associated with the project. She said it was “vital” that young people had somewhere to “channel their musical creativity.”

UK Music has launched IMAGINE a report which looks at the unrealised potential of music heritage tourism in the UK. Millions of music tourists make pop pilgrimages to museums, take tours and visit the homes of the UK’s most loved bands every year. UK Music’s report examines how music tourists translate pop into pounds.

UK Music held an Apprentice Breakfast with Skills Minister, Matthew Hancock MP at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills as part of National Apprentice Week. The event gave music companies a chance to hear from UK Music’s young apprentices and talk to their employers about the benefits of taking part in the UK Music Apprenticeship scheme.
