One of the recommendations that UK Music makes to companies is that they form development/youth boards which enable younger talent (who are in general more diverse than the main boards) to learn about board responsibilities, meet board members and feed into discussions at the top level. We think it is important to follow our own advice and therefore have formed our own development board, ‘the UK Music Futures Group’. The group meets four times a year to discuss the big issues of the day. The group also feeds into all UK Music campaigns and reports into the UK Music Board. The group is comprised of talented young individuals from across the industry, with a 50/50 gender split and a 60/40 white/BAME split. Members of the group speak at UK Music events, are involved in our Education and Skills work, and bring new ideas and approaches to our work.
