Skills

UK Music is at the heart of discussions on creative education and skills policy development.

The creative industries employ some of the most talented people and we recognise that the skills needed to work work within them are wide and varied.

UK Music helps to develop education programmes, with support ranging from school projects and music education.

Together with the Department for Culture, Media & Sport UK Music helped create Rehearsal Rooms across the country. These spaces have provided a place for talented young people to come together and play, produce and create music. They also provide a space to meet and be safe. The spaces are set in some of the more deprived areas of the country, and so provide a haven for creativity away from the pressures of the outside world.

As well as these projects UK Music also chairs the Leadership Development Network, bringing together and providing support for different areas of the industry. Its overall aims are to promote greater cohesion and strategic collaboration across the music business, and to foster the development of individual leadership skills.
