BPI Announces Trade Mission to Australia
Following on from BPI Trade Missions to Los Angeles and Tokyo, the BPI, supported by the MPA, will be running an inaugural trade mission to Australia, covering Sydney and Melbourne.
The programme aims to give
Australian companies participating in the programme include indie champions Inertia Music, Alberts, Ministry of Sound, Liberation Records, Shock Music, Triple J radio, Spotify, JB Hi Fi retail and the Association of Independent Record Labels (AIR), plus many more.
Julian Wall, BPI Director of International Events, said,
“We’re very pleased to be adding this to the BPI trade mission programme. The Australian industry is in great shape at the moment and if you want to engage in the market there as an indie this is a good place to start.”
The Australian market is now 6th biggest in the world according to IFPI figures and recent BPI research shows UK artists have a 20%+ share of the market. Digital growth in the market in 2011 soared to 36% and a number of new services including Spotify and Deezer are launching this year.
