How to get started

The Equality & Diversity Charter for Music pinpoints four areas where action is needed. You can download a copy here: Download Charter.

When you sign the Charter you will be asked to commit to at least two specific, relevant and realistic actions you intend to take to actively promote equality and diversity in the way you do business, including an achievable timescale. If you are working for an organisation, you may wish to discuss this with your colleagues or present your ideas to your board.

You can get inspiration from other people in the music industry who are already doing good work in these areas from  the ‘Ideas & Inspiration’ section of the site. If you'd prefer to read these offline, you can download our guide to the Equality and Diversity Charter for Music here: Download the Guide

As a company or self-employed person, you simply pick at least two areas in which you would like to improve equality and diversity each year, and decide what actions you will commit to taking. If you are running a company, you may want to discuss this with your colleagues.

The actions you pledge to take should be relevant and realistic for your business, and include a specific and achievable timescale, set by you (ideally over the period of a year).
